And we know this “extreme age of the universe” to be correct via a simple proof:
People who believe the bible’s creation myth and claim it’s “compatible” with science are deluded.
Human beings (homo sapiens), mere babes in the woods, began to appear around 300,000 years ago.
The earth, initially far too hot and fiery for liquid water to condense, and thus neither dark nor watery.
Thus the bible’s “six days of creation” are wildly out of order. And why would a god who spoke things into existence need to rest on the seventh day?
Thus, what many “flat earthers” believe about the facts of science is wildly incorrect.

If the most distant stars were not billions of years old, their light (which travels at a known speed) would not have reached us yet, and the night sky would be much darker.

When the earth originally formed it was far too hot for liquid water or any life to exist. This state continued for nearly a billion years. Because the bible says a dark, watery earth existed before the rest of the universe was created, including our sun, and that trees grew on earth before the sun was created.
